Diane Leicester-Hallam joins the PDA as Director of Member Services

The PDA are pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Leicester-Hallam as Director of Member Services.

Organising trade union representation and defence association benefits, the PDA is now the largest pharmacist membership organisation in the UK. With over 27,000 members, the organisation is committed to developing more services for pharmacists to support them throughout their working life. Diane, who has been Chief Executive of the Pharmacist Support charity since 2009, will lead the development of this arm of the PDA’s operations.

In announcing the appointment, PDA Director Paul Day said: “Diane will add great value to our organisation and we are delighted that she is joining the PDA team. Diane is a well-respected and connected influencer who understands pharmacy.

Helping members in times of trouble is something we will always do. We have a hard-earned reputation for helping pharmacists that face difficulty at work and every day we are resolving situations for many of our members so that they can get on with their lives….”

Aiming High – a two-day conference for pre-reg trainees

We know that your pre-registration year is very important. So, following on from the success of last year’s conference, we have once again created a two-day pre-reg conference ‘Aiming High’, hosted by the BPSA and sponsored by the PDA. This popular conference, produced with training provider ProPharmace, aims to help get your pre-reg year off to a great start!

What can you expect from this event:

• Mark Pitt, Director of Defence Services here at the PDA, will be discussing legal and professional challenges.
• Gregory Lawton will discuss the difference between the person and systems approaches to patient safety, how to identify which one is being used in the workplace, the benefits of the systems approach to patients and pharmacists (for example in its effects on the working environment) and how we can develop the systems approach within the profession in the future.
• Talks on accounting for locums, discussing merits of – Ltd vs sole trader and other accounting issues you may face as a locum pharmacist.
