Diane Leicester-Hallam joins the PDA as Director of Member Services

The PDA are pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Leicester-Hallam as Director of Member Services.

Organising trade union representation and defence association benefits, the PDA is now the largest pharmacist membership organisation in the UK. With over 27,000 members, the organisation is committed to developing more services for pharmacists to support them throughout their working life. Diane, who has been Chief Executive of the Pharmacist Support charity since 2009, will lead the development of this arm of the PDA’s operations.

In announcing the appointment, PDA Director Paul Day said: “Diane will add great value to our organisation and we are delighted that she is joining the PDA team. Diane is a well-respected and connected influencer who understands pharmacy.

Helping members in times of trouble is something we will always do. We have a hard-earned reputation for helping pharmacists that face difficulty at work and every day we are resolving situations for many of our members so that they can get on with their lives….”

Boots Employees Vote For Macmillan To Receive A £3,308 Charity Donation

After promising to give £1 to charity for each Boots pharmacist and pre-registration graduate who voted in the recent derecognition ballot, last week the PDA Union donated £3,308 to Macmillan Cancer support, which was selected by voters as their preferred charity to receive the donation.

Women in Pharmacy Survey 

We are inviting you to take part in our short Women in Pharmacy Survey so that we can better understand the issues that affect women working in the pharmacy sector. We want to understand why so few women seek senior leadership roles in many areas, including in the organisations that represent the profession. We are keen to establish if there are barriers to women pursuing these senior positions and how these barriers can be overcome.

Labour Party Fringe Event: ‘Wider than medicine:
where next for the NHS?’

Venue: Martin Luther King Building, Albert Docks, Liverpool
Price: FreeThe PDA are sponsoring a fringe event at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool as part of our engagement with politicians and others about the future of pharmacy. In association with Progress, the lunchtime panel event titled ‘Wider than medicine: where next for the NHS?’, is free to attend and open to all, though booking your space is highly advised.

Come along and hear from PDA Chairman, Mark Koziol, and the rest of the panel as they debate what happens next in the NHS.

Aiming High – a two-day conference for pre-reg trainees

We are proudly sponsoring the GP Pharmacy Theatre and chairing the Women in Pharmacy session which takes place in the Keynote Theatre on Sunday 7th October between 4.40 and 5.25pm.The GP Pharmacy Theatre will support clinical pharmacists in their new practice-based roles and offer advice to those keen to integrate community pharmacy with general practice. We will be running 6 sessions in the theatre over the course of the 2-day show.
