PDA launches Brexit Medicines Survey

The focus on Brexit and its potential impact on the use of medicines by patients provides an opportunity for pharmacists to contemplate the current situation regarding medicines both from a supply and demand perspective. The PDA, as part of its membership of the government’s Brexit forum, provides advice on these subjects and as the likelihood of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit has recently increased, the PDA seeks the current views of frontline pharmacists.Please complete our short Brexit Medicines Survey by Friday 6 September 2019.

New online resource available to PDA members

The PDA is often asked for our views on the benefits of working for specific employers. To assist members in reaching their own conclusions, we have developed an online resource which contains pharmacy-related employment tribunal cases that we have become aware of. These employment tribunal judgements are publicly available documents, and some relate to employees other than pharmacists. Keep on eye on this section of the website as it will be regularly updated.

First PDAU network in place at Boots

Following the recognition agreement signed by the PDA Union and Boots, the PDAU has now established a network of PDAU reps to represent the circa 7,000 pharmacists and pre-registration trainees employed at the company. The PDAU Boots network consists of one PDAU representative for each of the company regions making a total team of 17 pharmacists who will now spend part of their time as trade union officials.

PDA respond to RPS consultation on a Competency Framework for Designated Prescribing Practitioners

The RPS consulted from 21 June 2019 to 2 August 2019 on a competency framework for Designated Prescribing Practitioners (DPP). The framework covers the competencies required of a prescriber, in any profession, taking on the DPP role for trainees during the Period of Learning in Practice (PLP).
