Each year, the PDA sponsors the Student Leadership category in the Scottish, Northern Ireland and Welsh Pharmacy Awards. PDA representatives attend the awards ceremonies and present the award to the winner.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic pharmacists have been on the frontline working relentlessly to continue to help patients when GP’s shut their doors to face-to-face appointments. Pharmacists also worked tirelessly to keep themselves and their pharmacy teams safe. The awards night was a great opportunity to recognise these pharmacists and their teams for their dedication to the profession.
On the night there was an announcement of the 2021 Special Recognition Award honouree which, for the first time, was dedicated to the entire Scottish pharmacy community in tribute to their collaborative efforts, commitment, and resilience in the face of unprecedented Covid-19 pressures. The evening also raised funds for this year’s nominated charity, SAMH, Scotland’s national mental health charity.
