The PDA is often asked for our views on the benefits of working for specific employers. To assist members in reaching their own conclusions, we have developed this online resource which contains pharmacy related employment tribunal cases that we have become aware of. These Employment Tribunal judgements are publicly available documents, and some relate to employees other than pharmacists.

  • Pillbox Chemists Ltd: Unlawful deduction from an employees’ wages

    Fri 5th April 2019 The PDA

    Pillbox Chemists Ltd made an unlawful deduction from an employees' wages by failing to pay him wages from 1 March 2018 to 13 March 2018. This resulted in the Judge ordering Pillbox Chemists Lt to pay the employee the sum of £478.20 in respect of this unlawful deduction. 

  • Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd: Unfair dismissal

    Thu 28th February 2019 The PDA

    The claimant sent a claim form to the Tribunal complaining of unfair dismissal. In the response the respondent raised a preliminary issue that the Tribunal had no jurisdiction to hear the claim as it was presented out of time in terms of section 111 of the Employment Rights Act 1996 (the ERA). The case was listed for a preliminary hearing to determine the issue of time bar. 

  • Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd: Wage dispute

    February 2019 The PDA

    The claim was be dismissed as having been withdrawn by the claimant without further order of the tribunal as there was no request for a further hearing. 

  • Pillbox Chemists Ltd: Unlawful deduction of wages

    Thu 31st January 2019 The PDA

    Pillbox Chemists Limited made an unlawful deduction from an employees' wages. This resulted in the Judge ordering Pillbox Chemists Limited to pay the employee the sum of £1,786.25 in respect of this unlawful deduction. 

  • Lloyds Pharmacy Ltd: Unfair dismissal

    Fri 23rd November 2018 The PDA

    The Claimant brought a complaint of unfair dismissal against the Respondent. The Respondent defended the claim, asserting that the Claimant was dismissed fairly by reason of redundancy. 

  • Bestway Panacea Holdings Limited: An unfair dismissal

    Fri 21st September 2018 The PDA

    A court heard how Bestway Panacea Holdings Limited unfairly dismissed a member of staff and treated them unfavourably because of something arising as a consequence of a disability. They also failed to make reasonable adjustments to accommodate said disability.  

  • Assett Chemist Ltd: Unfair dismissal

    Tue 21st August 2018 The PDA

    The unanimous judgment of the Employment Tribunal was that the unfair dismissal complaint was well-founded. 

  • Lloyd’s Pharmacy Ltd: Constructive unfair dismissal

    Fri 27th April 2018 The PDA

    The Judgment of the Tribunal was that the claimant was constructively unfairly dismissed by the respondent, however, the judge anticipated both parties would be able to settle the matter between themselves. 

  • Pillbox Chemists Ltd: Unlawful breach of contract

    Tue 20th March 2018 The PDA

    Pillbox Chemists Ltd was found to have been in breach of contract and was therefore ordered to pay to the claimant paid expenses in the sum of £100.00. Pillbox Chemists Ltd also failed to pay the claimant's holiday entitlement and was ordered to pay the claimant the sum of £421.15.  

  • Moldina Ltd: Unlawful deduction of an employee’s wages

    Mon 19th March 2018 The PDA

    The Claimant made a claim for unlawful deduction of wages. The judgment of the Tribunal was that the Claimant's claim for unlawful deduction of wages succeeded. This resulted in the judge ordering the Respondent to pay the Claimant the sum of £174.14 (gross) calculated at an hourly rate of £4.05 x 43 hours.
